April Currently

I can't believe that it is already April!! Shocking.  But I am happy to say good bye to the cold weather, and hello to spring (unfortunately it still can snow here in May).  My favourite part of the beginning of the month is linking up with Farley's Currently.  The super power took me a little time to come up with, but I think a CDO button would be awesome.

If you haven't heard of CDO I will fill you in.

So I would really like an instant CDO button.  This would be incredibly useful in the classroom.  I could take a pile of mixed up papers, and have them instantly sorted in alphabetical order before I mark them.  Wouldn't that save teachers a ton of time.

It could also sharpen pencils.

Clean up centres.

Organize theme units.

The possibilities are endless.

One can only dream.

MaRcH CuRrEnTlY!

Wow, I am a little shocked that it is already March! Where has the time gone.. but one of my favorite things about the beginning of each month is participating in Farley's Currently Linky Party.  I just love her blog.

I think loving was my favorite to fill out! I have been so pumped lately because I get to have a VaCaTiOn over spring break!!!! This Friday I get to fly to Vegas and then go on a road trip to Palm Springs.  i am so excited to take in all of the scenery and soak in some much needed vitamin D.  We also booked a vacation for Belize.. I cant even start my count down because it is too far away... but I will soon!

I also had some troubles with my 3 words FARLEY!!!! Tehe.  I did use Google, and this is what I came up with/desperately made work.  Maternal because I feel like a mother to sooo many kiddos, and  I also think I am an A+ Auntie.  Mindful because I care about everyone's feelings and opinion.  Lastly Merry, I am a very happy, smiley lady.  Wooooot! Now I no longer have to sweat about that tricky one.

Thanks to my Mom taking the time to cut my fabric I was able to plan out my "Classy Redneck" quilt.  I posted some pictures and my plans for this quilt on my brand spankin new blog The Crazy Adventures of Two Quilters. This blog is going to have all of my quilting/crafty adventures.  I also teamed up with my Mom, and she will be contributing to this blog as well.  She has a similar background to me... graduated with a science and education degree, she taught Grade 7&8 Math and Science.  Now she has her own Long Arm Quilting business and I love bugging her for tips and tricks.  I am hoping she will share some of her amazing organizational ideas that she uses in her quilting studio, as well as tips for preparing your quilt for long arm quilting.

If you are interested come check us out.

Also I just have to share this quote I found on pinterest.  It would be perfect for my bulletin board.

My CuRrEnTlY for February!

Here is my currently for February, thanks to Oh' Boy 4th Grade.  I love the idea of rak (random act of kindness) for me it is a big kick in the you know where to get my spring cleaning in order.  I have a lot of stuff in my closet that I never use or wear and I am sure it can find a new home.  I have less than a month, and I think it is an attainable goal.  I also want to include my OLW (one letter word) for this month.... DETERMINATION.  I found patience was a struggle.... I tend to make my a decision and I want to see progress immediately.  Instead, determination is going to make me stick to my decisions, even if I don't see initial progress... if that makes sense.  I may regret this later.

Also, an update from the weekend.  I am sure you are dying to know how the meat draw went (ha ha).  We did win some steaks, and they made a lovely dinner that night. We are still waiting to win the grand prize of 1,600... so far no one has won it, so the pot will increase again.

I did manage to go fishing, but sadly the fish didn't show up.  I tried everything, but no luck.  Instead I took some lovely photos from the river that we hiked into.  Enjoy!

Teachers Pay Teachers

Teachers Pay Teachers, one word... WOW! Why didn't I find this site when I was a desperate practicum student looking for bright ideas?? I am so inspired now and amazed at all of the great things teachers are creating.  I cant wait to add more things to this site.  I just uploaded a Jeopardy Smart Board file onto TPT today.  It is a great science game that can be used as an assessment tool.  This Smart Board file can also be used as a template for any subject.  I know you will love this game because my students LOVED it!  Every time I would turn on the Smart Board they would beg me to play the game again.  Little did they know that I used the game as one of my summative assessments.  It was also a great tool to see my students interact and share their opinion.  I made it a rule that IF they had a differing opinion they must support it with scientific evidence.  It was amazing to hear and I wish I had video tapped the class.  Some students wouldn't agree with their peers, but they couldn't argue their opinion because they didn't understand the concept fully.  Others could "convince" the other students using their scientific logic and that really highlighted their understanding.

Overall, it was a great "Ahhh" moment when my lesson turned out better than I had previously anticipated.  I hope that you can use this resource as well.

Ok, I know I am a little late... but here is my Currently for January.  I am going to remind myself of my OLW constantly and I am going to fulfill my want! Hello Starbucks, I have missed you terribly (I currently live in a small town that only have one of a kind coffee shops......they are all fantastic, but they are no match for my skinny vanilla bean latte).  Now that I am visiting my parents, one of my first stops will be the closest Starbucks.
